The Bavarian Forest and Šumava National Parks / národních parků Bavorský les a Šumava

Having grown up in Finsterau, located directly on the border, he has been familiar with the nature of the Bavarian Forest National Park and the adjacent Czech Šumava since childhood. Since he received his first camera at the age of 11, he has been wandering through the forests in search of rare animals and plants. Equipped with a special sense of atmosphere and the ability to capture the right moments.

Due to his connection to his home, Lukas Haselberger completed his Master's degree at the Technical University of Deggendorf with a project on Finsterau and Mauth. This resulted in his first book "Between Wood and Stone - Life on the Bavarian-Czech Border".

The verdigris agaric (Stropharia aeruginosa) catches the eye from summer to late autumn with its bright colour.

In 2023, he received the Förderpreis (support prize) of the Freyung-Grafenau district: "A photographer, macro photographer and tracker full of initiative and visions. Fascinated by the beauty of the visible and the aesthetics of the invisible in nature," described district caretaker Karl-Heinz Reimeier in his laudation.

In his current, two-language work "Hidden Worlds of the Bavarian Forest and Šumava National Parks", which is also funded by the German-Czech Future Fund in Prague, Haselberger takes his readers into the often overlooked world of mushrooms, small creatures, spiders and insects.

The primeval-forest relict species Mycetoma suturale lives in mixed mountain forests with large-diameter deadwood and a rich fungal flora. It develops on the benzoin bracket (Ischnoderma benzoinum).

Underrated in its effect on our complex ecosystem. The photographer builds bridges with his images into hidden worlds and allows us to look directly into the eyes of its inhabitants. A book with a great aesthetic that not only fascinates mycologists, entomologists and coleopterologists, but also nature enthusiasts.
